The Reverend Alana McCord

Interim Priest-in-Charge

Reverend Alana first arrived at Epiphany in September 2018 as our new Curate. She was ordained to the priesthood here in Ottawa in December 2018.

Not only is Rev. Alana new to Epiphany, she is new to Ottawa as well. Her father, Robert McCord, was also an Anglican priest, and Rev. Alana has lived in Onaping, Guelph, Oakville, Burlington, and Toronto.

Rev. Alana has a BA in History from McMaster University in Hamilton, a Master of Divinity from Trinity College, Toronto, a MA in History from St. Michael’s College, Toronto, and is currently completing her PhD Thesis on the Cultural Christianity of First World War Britain and Canada.

Rev. Alana is particularly interested in History and Christian Apologetics (the study of defining and defending Christianity), and has a passionate interest in Christian Education for all ages.

Rev. Alana is very happy to be making Ottawa her new home, and is thrilled to continue at Epiphany as the Interim Priest-in-Charge during Epiphany’s search for a new Incumbent.

Lay Leadership

Gerry Green

Lay Reader

This year I will have been married to my wonderful wife Wendy for 50 years. We have a son and daughter, both married, two grandchildren and recently celebrated the arrival of our first great- grandchild. We are very blessed in that they all live nearby.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Victoria and a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto. My career was in Human Resources with  25 years in the R.C.A.F. followed by six in the federal government and 11 years as a civilian in D.N.D. I have been retired for a number of years and generally hibernate in the winter and play a lot of golf in the summer.

I came late to the church, being baptized and confirmed while in my early 40s. I worshipped at St. Christopher’s, which became Epiphany, and am delighted to consider the parish as part of my family.  Over the years I have served in various positions, including warden, and on various committees; I currently serve as licenced Lay Reader.

Gennaro Busa

Music and Choir Director

Gennaro is a loving husband to Emma and proud father of Jacob and Gabrielle.

Gennaro was born and raised in Ottawa – Dunrobin to be precise. He holds a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa. By day, he teaches Music, Visual Art, and Drama to the grade 7 & 8 students at Immaculata High School. By night, he sings as a tenor with the Cantata Singers of Ottawa.

Gennaro started playing the piano at the age of 4, and music has been a part of his life ever since. His journey as a church musician began at St. Isidore Catholic Church when he was in 10th grade. A good friend coaxed him into joining the choirs at church and at school (although he had never sung in a choir before) and he has never looked back. He went on to sing in the choirs at Ottawa University and as a choral scholar at St. John the Evangelist, followed by a few years accompanying the choir at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Gennaro was introduced to Epiphany by his wife Emma who grew up in the parish, and they got married here in July 2013.

Come say hi if you can catch him chasing a toddler around. He’s always happy to talk music or to hear what you thought about the selections. And if being in the choir interests you at all, don’t be shy!

Chunson Park

Organist

Chunson Park came to Epiphany in 2004 to serve the Lord through the role of Organist and Choir Director. In 2018, she resigned from the Choir Director due to a health issue but continues today to happily deliver music by playing the organ and piano, as well as teaching children bible songs. Chunson graduated from University of British Columbia, Juilliard, and Boston University (DMA).
